After many years, one of my first, and favorite forum systems is releasing a new version. I’ve played with vB, SMF, iBs and many others, but always find myself coming back to phpBB. However with the recent posting confirming a release date (and party) "Olympus" goes from RC status to final!
I figure I will wait a couple days before delving into the new version of phpBB, but I do plan to install one and see how it works. I’m especially interested in the css-based (tableless) design of the new xxxsilver theme. Though I am considering restyling it to something more inline with Kupatrix.
However I’ve been thinking about swapping out Kupatrix’s Moogle Inspired "deep blue" design to something lighter and cleaner. I’ve got a few ideas rolling around in my head, and it will let me take the time to upgrade the base theme to the newest version (I base many of my wordpress themes off Sandbox).
The main focus of my forums will be more of the same really, I used to host some way way back when I first got Kupatrix going, but this time I intend to host forums that might actually get used. Really I’d like them to be an expansion and more focused forums based of Technology Annex or Computer Discussion from Warboards or Blizzforums respectively.
However I also figure these forums will give me the ability to reach others who might need help, "Need help? Go here and post!"
Who knows? Maybe I can bring back some of the old gang from the Starcraft days. At the least I know I’ll have fun with phpBB3.
