I know it’s been a month since my last update, I suppose that’s not really keeping in line with my “post every day” comment from earlier huh? I simply must print out a piece of paper with giant letters on it!

I watched Terminator I and II the other night; it was certainly a crazy flash back. I was actually born in ‘84 when the first movie was released. I’ve been debating whether or not to watch T3, since in my opinion it’s not a true Terminator movie. Mostly because of Cameron’s lack of association with it, and the absurdity of the “updated” model. Sarah Conner Chronicles though, that series is just awesome. At first I was hesitant, but I think it’s really coming along. Although there are already rumbles of it’s possible cancellation, which would suck. I find that that and Atlantis are really the only two shows I follow seriously anymore, though I keep thinking about trying to start watching Heroes. Though people mention that last season was really disappointing. I’ve yet to watch the latest SCC but I’m heading off to Hulu in a couple minutes to do just that.

I’ve also been cataloging a bunch of stuff for a relative. It’s interesting to say the least. The idea is mostly to see what, if any, the stuff would go for on eBay. So far things look promising, but not overwhelming. Though I’m afraid that a good deal of the older newspapers are a no-go, simply because of their condition, and the extreme lack of interest in newspapers from that time. Though I did consider a possible “lot” though. At the least it’s got me thinking about my own “baggage” from the past. Right now in my closet is 4~5 boxes of stuff that, I don’t honestly think I need. So after I with this stuff I think I’ll be visiting my own boxes, who knows maybe I’ve got a precious collector’s item somewhere in there!

The last time I had a really bad sore throat it lasted for almost a week and a half, and it was so bad that I couldn’t swallow without extreme pain. Couple that with the fact that I couldn’t stop salivating it was a pretty horrible week and a half. What’s worse is that during this time I actually begged to go to the doctor… After all was said and done they gave me these horse pills and was told to “swallow” them. Seems to me it just added to the pain.

This time, at least, wasn’t so bad. I woke up Tuesday with a bad sore throat, go over the soreness by around Wednesday evening or early Thursday (didn’t really sleep much considering). Afterwards I developed the amazing ability to produce large amounts of snot. And today (Saturday) I’m just sitting here, finally over a light head, and only having to deal with the occasional snot build up.

So if you were wondering what the heck was going on with me, there you have it.

Onto other news! I took some pictures at a family gathering last weekend (right before I got sick as it so happened) and you can see most of them in the Gallery under “Family Pets” there were, of course, pictures of the Family, but I’m not quite as a cavalier as others are about posting their family for all to see.

At any rate you can at least look at the awesome animals that our family has. It’s simply the beginning though because most of the family has a dog, or a cat, or multiples of either (or both) and I intend to get pictures of them all!

I’ve also decided I’ll be releasing the current theme Kupatrix is using, soon (free, under CC). I want to finish tweaking it, especially for quotes, and round out the comment section (it’s pretty bare bones at the moment). When I do I intend to release the theme along with some varied color versions (Red, Green, Purple, Blue - The Default, Brown, etc…) though I’ve no wish to overdo it, so we’ll see.

I’m planning for this to be the first release of many, so “stay tuned”! Most, if not all, of the themes will be released for free under creative commons. Oh, and I’d also like to encourage anyone and everyone to comment and criticize the current design. I want to know what people like, what people don’t like, so as I finish tweaking it I can’t get all the kinks worked out. Thanks!

To center an entire layout with CSS you would add the following to your style sheet:

This tells the browser that anything between the <body> tags should be centered. This is often the easiest way to center a web layout. However this is one thing to keep in mind with this method. Because you’ve set the text-align to center, it will center all text underneath <body>. To change that, simply add

to your div#content, or div#sidebar or wherever you need the text to be aligned to the left like normal.

There is one other method for centering elements that doesn’t work in all browsers (which is why combining the two methods is often the best way). This following method isn’t to complicated, all you have to do to center the element you wish centered is add the following to your style sheet:

This tells the browser that the top and bottom margins should be 0, and that the left and right margins should be equal. This translates into the element being centered. If you combine these two methods you can be sure that your CSS is properly centering things.

As always keep in mind that IE handles things slightly differently. And while it doesn’t handle the margin auto trick, it does center things with the text-align trick. You could always play around with margins to get the positioning you want down just perfect. My next posting will include some ways to vertically align a design without all the extra fluff. Which is something that, sometimes, can be quite difficult. Especially when you take into account IE and the other quirky way browsers act.

I’ve also fixed the ad issue, god-only knows why they were fubaring anyway.

Just one final thought, I’ve decided to start taking a lot more photos, as well as try to catalogue or organize all the random computer graphics and pictures I’ve got using the nifty gallery I’ve got setup. I’ve also turned on a feature that will show “related images” (according to tags) for any posts that match up. So for instance if this post was tagged “FF6″ then those old Amano character drawings would should up down below. However because this post is tagged “Sadie” then it will show some of the most recent Sadie photos!
